Geffrye Explorers and Garden Cart
Discover more about the Geffrye – on Saturdays in our Explorers area inside the museum and on Sundays with sensory garden activities, trails and quizzes in the period garden (until 31 August).
Available during summer holidays and every Saturday and Sunday afternoon, 12.30 – 4.30pm. Suitable for ages 2 – 15.
Get hands-on with real objects from our handling collection and discover the stories behind these fascinating objects. The handling station is run by members of our youth programmes.

At Home with the Geffryes – Family Audio Tour
Journey back in time and listen to the story of the ‘Geffrye’ family as you make your way through the museum. Each living room is brought to life as the characters talk you through their daily routines. Available every day.
The quiz desk is staffed by friendly Activity Assistants who will help you choose from an exciting array of quizzes, trails, and things to make such as masks, headdresses and more. Suitable for children aged 3 – 11.
What’s in the box? Investigate seven mystery objects in the museum’s feely box. Can you guess what they are? Use the information cards to find out more or have a peek through the keyholes at the back. All Ages.
Have fun exploring the museum’s 20th century Chair Gallery with a Sam the Dog backpack. The packs are filled with a range of multisensory activities. Use a pair of binoculars to help Sam find the most comfy-looking chair. Suitable for children under 5 years old.
Pick up a picnic hamper from the quiz desk and head to the Garden Reading Room for a pretend tea party. Discover more about the history of tea, tell stories and play games with your guests. Suitable for children under 5 years old.
